During the Feast of the Holy Cross, in September, we hear our Lord tell us that the message of "The Cross is foolishness to those who are lost, but to those who are saved, it is the power of God".

Often times we hear of people who have gotten tired because of life’s travail and are tempted to give up their hope and faith in God. I have seen people even be angry at God for some of their misfortunes and losses. Surely a person’s soul grieves and has pain over many of life’s circumstances and events. However, the Saints remind us that God is Mercy and Life! Our Lord reminds us when He said, "God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world may be saved by Him". And again He said, "There are some who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Kingdom of God come in Power".

Surely this means that when life presents difficulties and struggles, the Christian soul would attempt with all its courage not to give up, but to persevere and hold onto the love of Christ, which is exemplified by His Cross. Christ said to us, "The Son of man needs to be raised up, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but shall have eternal life! When Our Lord was on the Cross, He cried out, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me"? But then, Holy Grace comforted Him and gave him strength to endure the Cross in His love for us.

Brethren, attempt to love God with all your heart and all your soul, for He is a faithful and loving Father! Didn’t He tell us, "I will never leave you as orphans, but I will be with you forever? Listen to the 23rd Psalm when it says, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, thy rod and thy staff, comfort me; surely I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever"!

May Our Lord bless, keep and love each and everyone of you, knowing that it is difficult to discern all of life’s happenings. Remember the message of the Cross is "foolishness to those who are lost, but to those who are saved, it is the power of God. Through the wisdom of God the world knew not God. It pleased God by the "foolishness" of our preaching to save them that believe.

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom;

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling block, and unto the gentiles foolishness;

But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God" (Please see 1:18-24, 1 Corinthians).
