Dear Parents,

We have restructured our Sunday School curriculum and are asking for your assistance with executing our new religious studies program. The goal of the Sunday School is to provide strong "Orthodox" fundamentals to the Parish children. As you know, our society, especially here in Southern California, is filled with distractions. We hope these fundamentals will help our children combat these distractions as they arise.

Currently, our teachers have a very short time to teach a lesson. This modified curriculum is designed to maximize the time our teachers have on Sundays.

In the beginning, every class will be using the book, THE LAW OF GOD. We request that every family purchase one copy of this book. We also encourage each family member to either read ahead or review the chapter from the previous Sunday and discuss it during the week.

In the beginning of March, we will add another series of books to the Sunday School curriculum called THE LIVES OF THE SAINTS. We will include a lesson plan with each copy and request that each child in the house read the designated story for that week. Both books are currently available in the bookstore at cost. The LAW OF GOD is priced at $50.00. Volume I of THE LIVES OF THE SAINTS is $4.50.

With our Church community spread out throughout Southern California, we realize class attendance can be inconsistent. This method of teaching will help our children keep up with the class in the event they miss a lesson or two. In addition, we believe that this structure will help develop good habits and encourage our children to continue to learn about and practice our faith as they grow.
